When Hollywood Loved Britain: The Hollywood 'British' Film 1939-1945 by Mark Glancy,
"When Hollywood Loved Britain examines the Hollywood "British" film--American feature films that were set in Britain, based on British history or literature and included the work of British producers, directors, writers and actors. "British" films include many of the most popular and memorable films of the 1930s and 1940s, yet they have received little individual attention from film historians and even less attention as a body of films. While the book is centered on wartime "British" films, it also investigates wider issues: the influence of censorship and propaganda agencies during Hollywood's studio era, studio finances, the isolationist campaign in the United States between 1939 and 1941, and American perceptions of Britain at war.

Hollywood blacklist - The Hollywood blacklist was a group of film actors, directors, and screenwriters in the late 1940s and early 1950s who were unable to work openly after having been targeted by the House Committee on Un-American Activities for alleged communist activities. The day after ten writers and directors were cited for contempt of Congress for refusing to give testimony, a Hollywood blacklisting policy was implemented by studio executives through the MPAA in what has become known as the Waldorf Statement.

Charles Walters - Charles Walters (November 11, 1911-August 13, 1982), Hollywood director and choreographer most noted for his work in MGM musicals and comedies in from the 1940s to the 1960s. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, and educated at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Dick Haymes - Dick Haymes (born September 13, 1918 in Buenos Aires) was one of the most popular American male vocalists of the 1940s. He worked in Hollywood on many films throughout the forties and fifties.

Social problem film - A social problem film is a narrative film that integrates a larger social conflict into the individual conflict between its characters.
