Pin-up girl - A pin-up girl is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as pop culture intended for informal display (and thus will be casually pinned up on the wall). "Pin-up" may also refer to drawings, paintings and other illustrations done in emulation of these photos (see the List of pinup artists).

Sweater girl - A sweater girl is a term that describes a look popularised in Hollywood in the 1940s and 1950s by actresses such as Lana Turner and Jane Russell, basically the wearing of a tight sweater in order to emphasize the bustline. In its original form the image was often tied to the promotion of new bra technology.

Bad girl movies - "Bad girl movies" are a subcategory of film noir labeled by latter-day movie buffs to describe the dark films of the 1940s and 1950s starring beautiful women who were usually on the wrong side of the law. The movie posters to these films usually featured sexy artwork of the lady in question, posed seductively, and these images today in original posters and reproductions are as collected today, as are the films themselves are on VHS and DVD.

History and Milestones Early North American rock and roll combined elements of rock and roll record was "Rocket 88", by Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats (written by 19-year-old Ike Turner also the session leader) and recorded by Sam Phillips for the Sun Records label, in 1951. A double, ironic, meaning came to popular awareness in 1947 in blues music (which was mostly limited in exposure to jukeboxes and clubs) but were new to the radio airwaves. These songs were relegated to "race music" (the music industry code name for rhythm and blues records as far back as the 1920s.
